Soon after finishing residency training in Ophthalmology in 2009, Dr. Thein Than Htaike started his career under supervision of Prof. Khin Ommar Khine, Oculoplastics chief of Myanmar.

In 2011, he got one month clinical observership in adnexal service at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, UK, under care of Prof. Richard Collin. In 2014, he was awarded 3 months fellowship in oculoplastics and reconstructive surgery under supervision of Prof. Christoph Hintschich, at Ludwig Maximilian University, Munich, Germany.

He is also a life time member of Asia Pacific Ophthalmic Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery (APSOPRS).

Dr. Htaike is an experienced Oculoplastics surgeon doing varieties of surgeries on eyelids, lacrimal and orbital diseases. He is also a comprehensive Ophthalmologist who can handle other eye diseases.

Currently, Dr. Htaike is practicing as a Lecturer/Consultant Ophthalmologist, Yangon Eye Hospital, University of Medicine 1, Yangon; training many young resident doctors in the Ophthalmology Department.
