Dr. San Hlaing Min is a consultant vitreoretinal surgeon graduated from University of Medicine 1, Yangon, Myanmar with Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S) in 1998. He qualified with the Master of Medical Science (Ophthalmology) from the same university in 2005. He went to the Royal Free Hospital, London, United Kingdom for International Council of Ophthalmology (ICO) Fellowship in Retina in 2009. He was conferred MRCSEd (Ophthalmology) from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK in 2010. He also worked at the Department of Ophthalmology, Hospital Sultanah Nur Zahirah, Kuala Terengganu and Hospital Kemaman, Terengganu, Malaysia in 2010. He was awarded the Certificate of Completion for one-year of Fellowship Training in Vitreoretinal Surgery from the University of Adelaide and Royal Adelaide Hospital, Australia in 2015. He also achieved the Doctor of Medical Science (Ophthalmology) from the University of Medicine 1, Yangon, Myanmar in December 2015.

Currently, he is working as an Associate Professor/Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist at Department of Ophthalmology, University of Medicine 1, Yangon and Yangon Eye Hospital. He involved in teaching program of doctorate and postgraduate students in Ophthalmology. He performed 400 to 500 vitreoretinal surgeries per year on average and hundreds of intravitreal injections for age related macular degeneration and diabetic macular edema since 2015. He has performed thousands of cataract surgeries since 2005.

His interest includes various vitreoretinal surgeries including diabetic related surgical cases, macular hole, epiretinal membrane peeling, retinal detachment surgeries, and retinal medical cases like diabetic retinopathy, age related macular degeneration.

He is registered as a Specialist in Ophthalmology by Myanmar Medical Council. He is a member of Myanmar Medical Association and Ophthalmological Society of Myanmar Medical Association. He is also registered with the General Medical Council, UK.
